Craftsman 10″ Table Saw with Laser Trac 21807- Review & Summary

Craftsman 10

The Craftsman 10 Table Saw with Laser Trac 21807 is one of the most inexpensive table saws on the market, but it’s still a valuable addition to any business. It isn’t a high-end cabinet saw, nor is it a hybrid saw. It’s a cross between a construction site saw and a compact hybrid saw. However, it is a good investment for someone who does not make money with their saws, such as a contractor, furniture maker or finish carpenter.

  • Inexpensive
  • Lightweight
  • Integrated outfeed stand
  • It’s got a dust bag
  • The base has wheels
  • Larger cutting capacity compared to most job-site saws
  • Expanding side tables
  • Relatively precise and accurate cuts
  • Equipped with soft start
  • Standard safety measures

  • The base is made of cheap ABS plastic
  • The side tables are rough aluminum material and don’t move as smoothly

What We Like

  • Laser Trac™, the Craftsman’s version of a guiding laser, is becoming more common among power tool makers for precision woodworking.
  • A heavy-duty stand. Most benchtop saws come with a generic stand for an extra fee, which keeps the retail price at the home improvement or hardware shop cheap and competitive.
  • Levers for locking the table. The clamping levers are located on the table’s corners and help to hold the saw body in place. Bolts are also available as an option and are suggested as a safety precaution.
  • Wheels made of plastic. On the lower side of the stand, there are two wheels.
  • A riving knife and anti-kickback pawls are included. This setup is designed to eliminate kickbacks while also allowing you to raise and lower the saw blade.
  • Rear wing and side expansions for the table. Using aftermarket table saw extensions or auxiliary rollers is even less convenient. Setting up to rip a complete sheet of plywood takes only a few seconds.
  • A bag for collecting dust. It’s located just under the body of the saw and reduces airborne dust.
  • Onboard storage is available. The storage slots for the rip fence and push stick are really useful.
  • It’s not too heavy. By far, the biggest component of this table saw is the motor. Someone in good form could possibly carry two or four of them on a pole.

What We Don’t Like

  • The saw is constructed of plastic, while the table is made of aluminum. To keep the saw connected and straight, steel components are bolted onto the aluminum table. Because it is lightweight and the legs are made of basic sheet steel, the entire structure might wobble.
  • When the bar is clamped, the fence is intended to straighten; however, it never travels as far as 1/8 inch out of alignment with the blade.
  • The width of a typical miter gauge slot is 3/4 inch. This table saw’s groove is narrower. Any jigs you’ve created for another saw won’t work here. The groove lips obstruct the use of a miter bar.
  • The on/off switch is concealed beneath the table, in front of the table, so you must stand in front of the table to turn it off.
  • The table saw throat plate is constructed of 1/8″ steel and has tiny ledges to hold it. As a result, any neck plate you create must be narrow enough to avoid interfering with these little ledges. Making your own zero clearance throat plate is required for any detailed job. However, everything you produce will have a VERY thin edge and will be extremely delicate.

In conclusion, the Craftsman 10″ table saw with laser trac 21807 is a low-cost table saw with a plethora of features that can help you improve your woodworking skills.

Because of its extension capabilities, it gives you variety in terms of the blades you can use as well as versatility in terms of the size of wood you can deal with. It’s simple to move about your business because of its wheels, and it comes with several handy extras.

If you’re a beginner to intermediate woodworker, the Craftsman 10″ Table Saw is a piece of equipment worth considering. If you are a more skilled carpenter interested in fine woodworking or building furniture, this may not be the tool for you, and as always use a table saw safely.
